BEÚ SPIRITS is a young, up-and-coming company from Zurich and Berlin, dedicated to the production of high-quality mezcal and agave spirits. Their team consists of six partners from Switzerland, Mexico, Germany and Peru, who all share a deep love for mezcal and agave spirits. The products are traditionally made in Oaxaca, in the south of Mexico, by local maestros mezcaleros and maestras mezcaleras.

BEÚ [noun: b’eu] is Zapotec (indigenous language of Oaxaca) and stands for the moon – BEÚ SPIRITS is a personal tribute to the cycles of nature and Mexican traditions. For this, the brand attaches great importance to authenticity. BEÚ Spirits support and respect the cultural heritage of mezcal, as well as their producers, and work only with maestros mezcaleros they know personally – to produce for you the best possible spirits from agave. They also rely exclusively on small producers who can draw on a lot of experience and a wealth of knowledge.
The goal is to work in harmony with nature and maintain its balance: Producing smaller, high-quality batches of mezcal gives the agave enough time to regenerate – after all, an agave needs an impressive 8 to 25 years to reach maturity! The labels are also sustainably made with the fibrous waste products from the production process. The team regularly performs extensive tastings and refining techniques to select the best production methods to perfect its agave spirit.

The THIRTEEN MOONS special editions are a tribute to the Zapotec god of infinity and abstraction, Coqui Xee. Coqui Xee symbolized the 13 appearances of the moon during the 365 days of the annual cycle. The cyclic nature of the repetition of the year created the belief in a single God with 13 different attributes, theological attributions, or invocations.
